Earlier this year, I had an opportunity to share some of the highs and lows I’ve experienced on my journey as the founder of HYGGEWellbeing.
As many entrepreneurs will tell you, while there are certainly a lot of challenges in running a small business, they are often outweighed by the satisfaction of creating and building a company of your own. One that can help make a difference in people’s lives.
While I’ve derived great pleasure over the past year in offering a wide range of products and information – including this blog – that contribute to the health and wellbeing of people, there are also days when something special occurs.
One of those days occurred recently when I learned I was named one of the recipients of the Hong Kong Living Influencer Awards. To say that I was both excited and humbled is an understatement. In learning more about the award and other recipients, I was deeply honored to be included among a special group of people who are contributing to the character and vibrancy of Hong Kong.
In collecting my honor at an awards event on October 28, I was pleased to observe that while we are from a diverse series of industries and professions, we have one thing in common: we are all passionate about what we are doing, and are determined to help make this city a brighter city to live, work and play.
While I didn’t start this company for the fame or even fortune, I was extremely grateful to be recognized for what I’ve achieved over the past year. This includes launching two specially sourced products from Japan (ceremonial grade matcha powder) and Brazil (organic acai powder) to provide a farm-to-table experience along with co-hosting several wellness events to demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate healthy habits into your daily routine.
One of my goals since day one has been to highlight that HYGGEWellbeing isn’t just an ecommerce company but is also building a community – a collective of people who are interested in discovering ways they can improve their health and wellbeing through a better diet and a focus on their mental health.
While the sale of every product on our website does contribute to our success and sustainability, I gain just as much satisfaction from emails I receive from satisfied customers, comments on our Instagram account and feedback at community events I participate in.
Small but mighty company
I’m gratified that people appreciate how we are different from bigger companies in our space – whether it’s our loyalty program or support for local organizations such as Angels for Children. We may be small in size but we make up for it with a mighty effort and that will never change.
There’s no doubt the pandemic has made operating a business even more challenging and demanding. However, make no mistake. This is a journey I don’t regret embarking upon and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes me in the future.
To my family, friends, ambassadors and customers, thank you for the support you have provided. I’d like to share this award with all of you as I couldn’t have earned it on my own. You all are my cheerleaders!
